Congress History

It is worth noting that the Kingdom of Bahrain is one of the first countries to recognize the importance of renewable energy when it held a conference which the Co-Chairman of this Congress, Ali Sayigh, organized with the late Dr Yousif A Al-Shirawi and the late Prof David Hall of Kings College London in 1978, SOLTECH -78, which was opened by H R H Prince Khalifa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Prime Minister of Bahrain and the late Saudi Minister of Electricity Dr Khazi Al-Qusaybi. This was followed by conferences and symposia organized by University of Bahrain in cooperation with UN agencies, ISESCO and WREN, ARAMCO and IEEE. Renewables are the cornerstones and the foundation of a truly sustainable energy future. Our mission is to promote enabling policies and to further develop a broad range of renewable energy technologies and applications in all sectors for electricity production, heating and cooling, agricultural applications, water desalination, industrial applications and for the transport sectors leading to A BETTER, CLEANER AND SAFER WORLD.
